The University awarded a contract for a IVUS AVVIGO Mobile Guidance System.
Procurement of IVUS AVVIGO Mobile Guidance System that is used in Cardiology procedures.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This equipment, used in intervention Cardiology procedures, that allows to look from the inside of the vessels out in a 360-degree arc, looking for blockages. This allows the Physician to pick the correct type of intervention, balloon, and stent sizes. Without this device physicians will not be able to perform interventional cardiac procedures, and the patient will seek care at other hospitals, which will be revenue loss for UIH.
