The University awarded a contract for a Real-time Temperature Monitoring System.
The vendor provides a real-time temperature-monitoring system and calibration services that are essential for maintaining the safety and effectiveness of temperature-sensitive medications across hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The vendor has been providing the software used by the hospital, clinics and pharmacies across the university to monitor the temperature and humidity of these units. Because this functionality is not transferable or serviceable by third parties, obtaining alternate quotes would not produce a functionally equivalent solution.
