Purchase of a Neo Derm 650-microsecond dermatological laser and an Exci308 UV lamp device, including associated accessories, operator training, a customer success package, and manufacturer warranty coverage. The equipment is necessary to support the Department of Dermatology's clinical operations, expand available treatment options, and provide timely, effective patient care.

This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Without this exemption, procurements for the specialized dermatological treatment equipment may be delayed or potentially disrupting clinical operations within the Department of Dermatology, limiting available patient treatment options, delaying patient care, and resulting in lost clinical revenue.
