The University awarded a contract for 9450 Drop Tower System.
University requires impact testing equipment capable of measuring the force response of of energy absorbing materials at high rate. The impact tester must deform a material sample at a high rate and measure the resulting force. The sample sizes and loading forces will vary over a range depending on the specific material being tested and desired experimental conditions. We must be able to configure the machine for different sample sizes and loading forces. The material sample size will vary between 1 to 20 cm. The force response will vary over a range of approximately one Newton to 10,000 Newtons. The impact tester must be compatible with other equipment in our laboratory.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) .
