The University awarded a contract for Computer Server with multiple GPU's.
Computer Server with multiple graphical-processing units. The lab must run experiments that require high-bandwidth HBM memory, low-latency inter-GPU communication, and sustained throughput over weeks of training. Therefore, purchasing a dedicated GPU server is necessary to maintain productivity, meet project milestones, and support student research.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) .
