The University awarded a contract for High speed camera for visualization of microsecond.
A high speed camera capable of 75,000 frames per second at megapixel resolution. Under contract with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (through which this funding is provided), we explore ultrashort events created by high explosive detonation. In order to visualize these flows and generate quantitative data for scientific research and publication, to image events lasting a few 10s of microseconds.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) .
