Announcement of an Exempt Purchase

AC Nielsen Corporation DBA Nielsen Company US LLC will provide the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics with sports analysis-national television ratings data, customized analysis of national television ratings data, metrics, demographics, market breaks, data source, and programming.

This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for events or activities paid for exclusively by revenues generated by the event or activity, gifts, or donations for the event or activity, private grants, or any combination thereof. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(2)) This will assist the university to more accurately understand how total viewership across sports ranks relative to peer institutions and reveals the unique characteristics of the U of I fan base to determine where there is alignment between targeted fan segment and other segments key to the universitys strategic interests (enrollment, donations, etc.).
